UCI was recently honored as Nonprofit of the Year at the Celebrate Irvine event, an annual recognition of businesses that have demonstrated commitment to community service, volunteerism and corporate citizenship. Presented by Irvine Chamber of Commerce CEO Tallia Hart and Irvine Mayor Stephen Choi, the award lauded UCI for its dedication to serving the community through life-enhancing research, premier education, groundbreaking discovery and world-class healthcare. Officials also recognized UCI’s successful $1 billion Shaping the Future fundraising campaign, innovative business and entrepreneur resources offered through The Cove, and the Fifty for 50 Volunteer Program that contributed more than 150,000 service hours to the local community from faculty, staff, students and alumni. The award was accepted by Brian Hervey, interim vice chancellor for advancement.
